LASIK Eye Surgery Post Op Care

Although there are some standard post-operative instructions for almost everybody recovering from LASIK eye surgery, your eye doctor will instruct you on the post-operative care that is most appropriate for you.

Make sure that you get specific post-operative instructions with regards to make up application, swimming, driving and hot tubbing.  You may also be advised to avoid exercise for at least two weeks after the operation to avoid sweat running into the eyes.

You may also be provided with a special pair of sunglasses to protect your eyes from ultraviolet light.

You will also need to attend a mandatory postoperative appointment within 24 hours after getting laser eye surgery.

Following your twenty-four hour visit there are two additional mandatory appointments. One examination takes place one month after the LASIK eye surgery and the other one takes place three months after the date of the LASIK eye surgery.  Yet another check up usually occurs six months from the day of the eye surgery.

Thoroughly follow your doctor's instructions in the weeks after laser eye surgery. This will include protecting your eyes from dust and abrasion and keeping them rested and well lubricated.
