Find a LASIK Surgeon in Your Area:

Epi LASEK Eye Surgery

Epi LASEK eye surgery is the treatment of choice for individuals who are very myopic or who have very thin corneas. It is also a very safe procedure for individuals who have been diagnosed with very steep or flat corneas.

Epilate is similar to a LASIK or LASEK treatment but the main difference is that the cornea is not cut and alcohol is not used.  Instead a mechanical device is used to make the separation.

The Epi-Lasik surgeon uses an epikeratome, a separator that creates an epithelial sheet, to make a thin paper cut in the epithelium.  There is no folding back of the flap as is typical of LASIK eye surgery.

The Wavefront excimer laser beam is then applied under the epithelial flap to successfully correct refractive errors and restore clear vision.

EpiLASIK is very well suited for individuals who are

  • Myopic up to - 20.0 Diopters
  • Hyperopic + 6.0 Diopters
  • Astigmatic +_ 6.0 Diopters
