Find a LASIK Surgeon in Your Area:

Conductive Keratoplasty | CK

Conductive Keratoplasty or CK, as it is known, is for individuals who have difficulty seeing up close due to hyperopia or presbyopia. This is a non-surgical laser vision correction procedure, which uses low energy radio frequency light to increase the curvature of the cornea.

During the conductive keratoplasty procedure, the eye surgeon uses this laser to overcorrect one eye and under correct the other to create a condition of monovision.  The dominant eye is corrected for long distance and if reading up close is required then the non-dominant eye takes over.

CK is a very safe and effective treatment, but the results are not always permanent and the treatment may have to be repeated in three to five years.

The benefits are that the procedure may reduce dependence on reading glasses. It is also recommended for individuals with corneas that are too thin to withstand LASIK surgery.
